An electrical separator is a separator used in batteries and other devices such as batteries and other devices where electrodes need to be separated from each other while maintaining ionic conductivity. The separator is preferably a thin porous insulating material with high ion penetration, excellent mechanical strength and long-term resistance to chemical reagents and solvents used in electrolysis such as batteries. In batteries the separator should be able to completely insulate the cathode and anode. In addition, the separator needs to be continuously elastic and follow movement during charging and discharging in systems such as electrode combinations. This object is achieved by the electrical spacer of the present invention, the spacer comprising a planar flexible substrate containing a large number of openings, a coating is present on the flexible substrate and in the flexible substrate, wherein the substrate is a polymer non-fabric, the coating is a porous electrically insulating ceramic coating, and the spacer is characterized in that the pores with a non-fabric thickness of less than 30 μm, a porosity greater than 50%, and a pore size distribution of at least 50% have a pore size of 75-150 μm.
